Teens in Nebraska keep being abandoned

Published by nh2008 at 9:12 pm under Current Events Edit This

I keep reading about teenagers being abandoned in Nebraska because of a law there that allows you to basically leave your child and the responsibilities that come with being a parent.I for one am appalled. I mean I can see why the state would want to protect children who might become abused because their parents do not want them but teenagers who are abandoned have their whole worlds turned upside down. Can you imagine being abandoned by your parents and now having to be put into foster care if you have no family members who will take you in and raise you? I think this law should have stipulations like you must seek counseling or provide valid reasons for deciding to abandon your child. You should also have to pay child support for your child because you are still their parents. It is amazing to me how someone can just abandon their teenager after raising them for so many years. I feel bad for all of these children who are being abandoned.
