How did our economy go so wrong?
Our economy has been suffering for a while. Where did it start to go so wrong? I think it began after September 11th when the terror attacks happened. During this time, the stock market kept slipping and losing points on a daily basis. Then, the war in Afghanistan started and after that the war in Iraq began.
The economy was stable at the time that the Iraq war began but the amount of spending for the war effort which is in the billions really started a trickle effect in our economy. Gas and oil prices increased which trickled down into grocery prices , retail prices and other prices. Wages have not increased to help offset these increase so now people are struggling to pay their bills and mortgage payments. Now there are rampant foreclosures and the stock market is failing. What will it take to repair the economy? Hopefully the war will end soon so our economy can get better, we all need the relief.
Exactly, and that’s what everyone including the politicians fail to mention. In order to fix the economy or employ any of the plans both Obama and McCain are promising we have to get out of Iraq first. We’re spending billions of dollars a day over there. That’s the problem.

If you’ve seen the FactCheck.org website mentioned in front page Yahoo articles after the debates, it’s worth a visit.
This particular article won me over by its seeming objectivity, and fits in well with your topic:
