The President’s Farewell Speech

Published by nh2008 under Current Events Edit This

Tonight the President- George W. Bush gave a speech saying farewell to the American people. I for one, did not find the speech very touching or even memorable. The speech was about ten to fifteen minutes long.Vice President was in attendance as was Doctor Condoleeza Rice. The last eight years are over in five days. Will we ever forget the last eight years? Oh, no we will not. We will remember ever even that happened that ultimately made our country even less trustful of our nation’s politicians. Did you watch this farewell speech?

Hillary Clinton Says No!

Published by nh2008 under Current Events Edit This

Hillary Clinton said that she will not give out any more information regarding her husband’s donors. Hillary Clinton is up for the job of the secretary of state. People are asking her to release more information about the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation but she said she gave out enough information. There have been rampant rumors since the primaries about the full list of donors. Hillary Clinton is very qualified to be the secretary of state. People just want to start problems so that Hillary Clinton has to withdraw her name from nomination but I honestly doubt that she would ever do that. She is a very driven woman who has worked very hard to get where she is today. Now, I think that Hillary Clinton should not comply. I mean Bill and Hillary Clinton have already given out a long list of his donors. What do you think about this? What if anything should Hillary Clinton do about this situation?

Burris Gets His Way

Published by nh2008 under Current Events Edit This

Roland Burris is going to be the next Senator from the state of Illinois. The Democrats will be grudgingly seat him in the United States senate. Many republicans love this because in 2010 they will be in good standing to get the seat for the republicans. Roland Burris will be sworn in later this week. Rod Blagojevich must be laughing his butt off right now. He selected Burris on purpose just to stick it to everyone and he and Burris both got what they wanted. I have to hand it to both of these men, they played a good game. Roland Burris did not turn down the senate seat like many people had thought that he would. There is no deal with the Democrats saying that Burris will not run for re-election in 2010 this is bad news for the democrats who want to keep their majority. Do you think that the people of Illinois will give Burris a chance or will they give him the boot no matter what in 2010.

President George W. Bush is Going to Write A Book

Published by nh2008 under Current Events Edit This

George W. Bush told Brit Hume on Fox News that he is going to write a book. Now, all negative comments aside, I think the book will be at least a little bit interesting. Now, love him, or hate him the president does have a lot to say. He has done a lot of very questionable things in the last eight years. I mean two wars, 9/11, economic meltdown, etc. He wants to put pen to paper and tell everyone in the United States what his take on those events is. I do not think that I would personally buy a book that he wrote but I think some people especially die hard republicans will rush to the bookstores when this book finally hits the shelves. Everyone deserves to tell their side of the story I guess. Most presidents do write memoirs and books after they leave the White House. Living in the White House must be such an interesting experience to go through. It is something few people ever will experience. Would any of you read or buy the book that the president is going to write?

Obama’s Kind Gesture

Published by nh2008 under Current Events Edit This

President Elect Barack Obama is planning a dinner in Senator John McCain’s honor. I really think that this is such a nice gesture from the president elect. This dinner will happen on the evening before the president elect’s inauguration. The President Elect will also hold dinners for Colin Powell and Joe Biden who is his new vice president. The president elect has really advocated being bipartisan people. These dinners show how bipartisan he is.John McCain and Sarah Palin said a lot of terrible things about the President Elect during the presidential campaign. Barack Obama is letting bygones be bygones and is extending a hand across the aisle. I really do respect him for this. Senator John McCain has served out country for many years and even though he did not win the presidential election, we should still all respect his valiant effort to win. The president elect has showed that he has true character and does not hold grudges. I really do respect the man who is our new president.

Child Molestation: Why Does It Happen?

One of my friends in grade school recently found out that her almost four year old daughter was being molested by a a man. Now, this man had been taking care of her and her one year old son while she was working part time at a grocery store. She was devastated to find out what was happening to her child. I mean you leave your child in someone else’s care and they hurt your child repeatedly. It is every parent’s nightmare. I always winder why this happened to little kids. I mean how can people be this sick? Children are innocent and this little girl’s innocence is shattered forever. Now,my friend feels like she cannot work anymore because she is afraid of something like this happening to her daughter again. I feel horrible for her. This situation has scarred their family forever. Now, they have to go to court and have this man brought to justice. She also has to take her daughter to a hospital therapist who specializes in sexual abuse in children. Today, I was shocked to hear this news, why does this stuff continue to happen here and all over the world?

Travoltas Had Memorial Service Today

Published by nh2008 under Current Events Edit This

John Travolta and his wife actress Kelly Preston held a memorial for their sixteen year old son, Jett today. The memorial service was held in Florida. It was not attended by any celebrities which was very surprising to hear. Kelly Preston and John Travolta are well known in the Scientology realm so I was surprised that no well known scientologists attended. I personally think it is refreshing for the Travoltas to have only close friends and family attend their son’s memorial service. Jett died because of a seizure. He was only sixteen years old and had so much life ahead of him. The Travoltas also have an eight year old daughter named Ella. This death will impact her life forever. I know from experience that a death in the family makes you more protective of your kids. You become more cautious and you call your doctor a lot because you think every cough or ailment is something very serious. No parent should ever bury their child. We should all keep them in our thoughts as we go about our busy days.

Porn Industry Wants A Bailout?

Published by nh2008 under Current Events, Economy Edit This

Joe Francis and Larry Flynt want a bailout for the adult entertainment industry. No, it is not April Fool’s day this is for real. I saw it on the news tonight. How much money do they want for their bailout? How about five billion, yes billion dollars. Now, this is insanity. Why should we bailout the adult entertainment industry? Now, I am not an economist but what would happen if the adult entertainment industry went bust? I mean it is only entertainment for some people and most people do not make a career out of being a porn star. Most are only in the business temporarily because it is dangerous to do that type of work because of the health risks involved. I think that the term bailout needs to be redefined by Webster’s Dictionary because everyone keeps asking for a bailout. Our tax dollars need to be more sacred. I mean we never see where they go. I would like maybe a monthly statement issued to the American people documenting where the money goes.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston Came back To United States

Published by nh2008 under Current Events Edit This

John Travolta and his wife actress Kelly Preston came back to Florida last night. They brought with them the ashes of their sixteen year old son Jett who recently passed away. According to the news, Jett died because he had a seizure. He had a serious seizure disorder. I had never heard of a person dying of a seizure before, usually people are rushed to the hospital and are okay in the end. There will be a memorial service held for Jett on Thursday. Reports have said that Jett did not hit his head as everyone had thought. The autopsy showed that he had no head trauma so most likely he did not hit his head. The loss of a child is a terrible thing for parents to go through. You spend your life trying to protect your kids and then suddenly in an instant your child passes away. Life is very precious. You never know when your number is up. It is a very sad thing.

Hacking Keep Happening

Published by nh2008 under Current Events Edit This

I heard today that Britney Spears and Barack Obama had Twitter accounts hacked. I had a friend last night who had their Facebook account and was sending everyone on their friends list spam wall postings. This has happened to more than a few of my friends. This type of thing keeps happening especially to celebrities. Technology has changed a lot in the last say ten years. As soon as the Internet was invented, the world literally changed in a quick minute. You can now chat with people abroad. This never happened in my parents time. You can do so much online now. It can be hard to keep up.For instance, what is different about a blue ray player? I have a dvd player, I have had it for years now everyone is buying blue ray players, what is the difference?I mean the discs that they take look exactly like dvds. We as consumers are never happy with what we have. We don’t like things that are simple like hula hoops and playing ball now we need video games, cell phones, and computers. Time sure have changed.
